Job Title: Montessori Early Years Teacher

Employment Type: Full Time (Core hours 8:00am-4:30pm Monday to Friday)

                                 (Part Time Role can be considered from Mon-Fri)

Qualification Required: Montessori Early Years Diploma

Job Description

Alamiyah School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and attentive lead Montessori teacher to assist in our Children’s House.  This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative and unique Muslim Montessori School to drive forward the learning needs of the pupils. The role is integral to the smooth running of the school and will require you to work closely with the headteacher to deliver the Alamiyah School curriculum.

The successful candidate will:

  • be a dedicated and exemplary role model
  • be an inspirational class leader capable of delivering the Montessori curriculum to a wide age range
  • firm understanding of the EYFS Framework
  • successfully engage each individual pupil through the employment of a Montessori pedagogy
  • respond to the needs of the children through a positive approach to discipline
  • have the ability to relate well to pupils, parents, staff and external agencies
  • be committed to the Muslim faith ethos and Montessori approach at Alamiyah
  • be willing to engage in CPD training held in house and externally
  • be passionate about furthering the aims and objectives of the school

  • Experience of working in this capacity
  • Maths and English GCSE required

Main Duties:

  • Preparing a Montessori environment suitable for children aged 3-6
  • Planning for each pupil individually using the Alamiyah teacher planning formats
  • Planning whole groups lessons
  • Presenting Montessori individual and group lessons during the workcycle
  • Performing observations and assessments
  • Overseeing pupils during the Montessori workcycle
  • Directing teaching assistant’s roles effectively
  • Maintaining assessment records and tracking pupil progress
  • Writing reports and providing feedback to parents and to the headteacher
  • Providing care to pupils and managing outdoor play and lunch supervision
  • Maintaining a tidy and organized learning environment

Job Title: School Caretaker (Part-time) 

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: £10 per hour 

Hours of Work: 2 hours per day 9.30 am- 11.30 am, 10 hours per week.  

Position start:  required as soon as possible.

About the position: 

Alamiyah School is a small Montessori Islamic School accommodating children aged 3-11 years.  

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding member of staff to work in our team whose duties would include, but not be limited to:

  • General caretaking duties

  • Maintenance of outdoor areas (including playground areas): sweeping, weeding, cleaning 

  • Manual work

  • Occasional heavy lifting 

  • DIY and basic onsite repairs

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to help improve the external environment of the School site

  • Completing and regularly updating documentation relating to specific maintenance tasks on a daily and weekly basis 

It would be highly desirable if you have the following skills and competencies: 

  • A good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and expectations for a safe School site

  • Have previous experience within caretaking or a similar role

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work on your own initiative with a flexible nature

  • Basic handyman skills
